A new bar and Filipino spot has made its debut in the neighborhood. Called Kubo Chicago, the new addition is located at 1232 W Belmont Ave. (between Lakewood Ave. & Racine Ave.) in Lake View.

This new spot specializes in Filipino comfort food, with an array of starters, salads, and entrees, as well as brunch.

On the brunch menu, expect to see items like longsilog, with longganisa and fried rice, and bangsilog, a marinated milk fish with garlic fried rice and egg.

Switching over to lunch and dinner, look for items like pancit, Filipino-style egg noodles sauteed in garlic and onions mixed with veggies, lechon kawali, deep fried pork belly bacon seasoned with house spices served with veggies and rice, a longganisa burger, and more. (You can check out the full menu here.)

With a 4.5-star rating out of 22 reviews on Yelp so far, the newcomer seems to be a welcome addition to the neighborhood.

Armmie C., who was among the first Yelpers to review the new spot on September 30th, said: "Loved this new restaurant. All the food we ordered was excellent. A must try!"

And Stacy H. said: "While scrolling through my Yelp feed, I noticed a friend bookmarked this new Filipino restaurant! My boyfriend is Filipino, so we obviously had to check this place out, and and we are so glad we did."

Intrigued? Stop in to try it for yourself. Kubo Chicago is open Monday–Thursday from 5pm–midnight, Friday from 5pm–1am, Saturday from 10:30am–1am, and Sunday from 11am–midnight.
