A new Mexican spot has debuted in the neighborhood. Located at 355 N Clark St. in River North, the newcomer is called La Bodega Del Barrio.
A casual sister spot to Mexican restaurant Barrio, La Bodega del Barrio offers a menu of tacos for both breakfast (with eggs and ingredients like pork belly and smashed avocado) and lunch (with options like al pastor pork and beans with roasted corn). Coffee drinks and matcha tea lattes are also available, along with a selection of Mexican bottled drinks.
But the biggest draw might be for sweets lovers: the bodega offers a selection of creative takes on churros, in flavors like Oreo, red velvet, and Fruity Pebbles. There's also a "churro sundae," with a churro bowl, chocolate or vanilla soft-serve, and a choice of various toppings.
If you want to take home something for later, the shop also offers Mexican wines, tequilas, and dry goods like bottles of hot sauce.
With just one review on Yelp thus far, La Bodega Del Barrio currently has a four-star rating.
Naywri W., who was the first Yelper to review the new spot on October 5th, said: "This is Barrio's cafe and a store where they carry imported and domestic spirits and dry goods. I had the Matcha tea latte and that was good. They have a light menu which serves tacos and churros."
Head on over to check it out: La Bodega Del Barrio is open weekdays from 7am–10pm, Saturday from 7am–9pm, and Sunday from 7am–8pm.
