A new spot to score pizza has debuted in the neighborhood. Called Luna Pizzeria, the new arrival is located at 7705 Westheimer Rd. in Mid-West.
The pizzeria — which has locations in Heights and Upper Kirby as well — has just opened its third location in the former Hot Toppings spot. The eatery specializes in pizza, Italian-inspired sandwiches and salads.
For its pizza menu, expect to see signature pies like the margherita with fresh basil, mushroom with baby portobello and sausage with red onions and red peppers.
As for sandwiches, look for items like the Italian (mortadella, provolone and pesto), meatball with tomato sauce and chicken parmesan with Grana Padano and fresh basil. (You can view the full menu here.)
With a five-star rating out of two reviews on Yelp so far, Luna Pizzeria has been warmly received by patrons.
Yelper Alex L. said: “Luna PIZZERIA is one of my favorite pizza joints in town and now they literally just two hours ago have opened this new location where Hot toppings was.”
James R., who was among the first Yelpers to review the new spot on October 2nd, added: "Like Alex said I too am sad that Hot toppings went out of business as they were dining well for a start up. But I don't think I could have thought of a better place to take over the location."
