If falafel and shawarma are what you're after, look no further than this new business. Located at 4040 City Ave. in Wynnefield Heights, the fresh arrival is called Naf Naf Grill.
Naf Naf Grill—which has other outposts throughout the Midwest and East Coast—specializes in oven-baked pitas, hand-cut salads, shawarma, and falafel.
Each order at Naf Na is custom-assembled to the diner's specifications, in a model similar to Chipotle's. Customers start by choosing either a pita or bowl of lettuce, rice, hummus, or couscous as the base. Then add chicken shawarma, steak or falafel; a garnish like chopped salad, cabbage, sumac onions, or pickles; and then top it off with a house-made sauce like tahini, garlic, harissa and more. (You can check out the full menu here.)
With a four-star rating out of seven reviews on Yelp so far, Naf Naf Grill has made a promising start.
Matt B., who was among the first Yelpers to review the new spot on September 30th, said: "Naf Naf Grill is like a Middle Eastern version of Chipotle (which is good, because they are neighbors). It's that new style of restaurant where you watch them make the food in an assembly line."
