New Boyle Heights Mediterranean Fusion Spot 'Xtiosu Kitchen' Opens Its DoorsPhoto: Xtiosu Kitchen/Yelp

A new Mediterranean fusion spot, offering shawarma and more, has made its debut in the neighborhood. Called Xtiosu Kitchen, the newcomer is located at 923 Forest Ave. in Boyle Heights.

Xtiosu Kitchen describes itself as a "Oaxacan Arabesque" eatery, fusing Mexican and Middle Eastern flavors.

On the menu, expect to see traditional mainstays like chicken shawarma, falafel, and beef kabob plates. There's also a kabob made with Mexican-style chorizo.

Other fusion fare includes chicken shawarma tacos and Oaxacan tabouleh made with nopales. (You can check out the menu here.)

The new arrival has already attracted fans thus far, with a five-star rating out of six reviews on Yelp.

Ziyin Z., who was among the first Yelpers to review the new spot on October 8th, said: "The nopales tabbouleh was FANTASTIC. Out of this world. What a gem of a place! Loved the kebabs and perfectly cooked and comforting."

Yelper Angie M. added: “Grubbin' at this delicious new Oaxacan-Middle Eastern fusion restaurant in Boyle Heights. On the menu: chicken shawarma tacos, nopalitos tabbouleh salad, and and falafel.”

And Michelle M. said: "Headed over after Ciclavia to try this place I read about in LA Weekly. My boyfriend and I ordered the chicken shawarma tacos, papas preparadas, and the Oaxacan tabouleh salad. Everything was fantastic."

Head on over to check it out: Xtiosu Kitchen is open Monday–Saturday from 11:30am–9pm, and Sunday from 11:30am–7:30pm.
