If you've got Mexican on the mind, a recent opening is need-to-know. Located at 2359 10th Ave E. (between Lynn St. & Miller St.) in Capitol Hill, the new addition is called D' La Santa.
This new Mexican spot bills itself as a 100 percent family-owned business, with a team of "brothers, uncles, aunts and daughters serving grandmother's old recipes."
On the menu, look for items like nopales, grilled cactus topped with cheese and choice of meat; chile en nogada, poblano pepper stuffed with ground beef, chicken and pork seasoned with green apple, plantain, and an array of nuts; and cochinita pibil, pork marinated with achiote and sour orange juice.
There are also tortas, tacos, and cortes featuring a variety of cuts like Wagyu beef, New York steak, pollo asada, short ribs, and more. (You can check out the full menu here.)
With a 4.5-star rating out of five reviews on Yelp so far, the newcomer seems to be a welcome addition to the neighborhood.
Dominique G., who was among the first Yelpers to review the new spot on October 21st, said: "I am so happy to have a Mexican restaurant in my neighborhood! The food was amazing, with plenty of flavor, but the best thing by far was the atmosphere and service."
Yelper Brendan L. added: “This place is a breath of fresh air in an area that really needed it. I live up the street and this place has been under construction for the last year. It is a family-owned restaurant.”
And Russ C. said: "Unique dishes and clearly a lot of thought and care put into the design and art."
Head on over to check it out: D' La Santa is open Friday and Saturday from 11am–10pm and Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Sunday from 11am–9pm. (It's closed on Monday.)
