A new traditional American spot serving breakfast, brunch and dinner has opened up shop in the neighborhood. The new arrival to Gold Coast, called Somerset, is located at 1112 N State St. (between Cedar St. & Rush St.)

Located adjacent to the Viceroy Chicago Hotel, Somerset is the newest addition to Boka Restaurant Group's popular lineup of eateries, which also includes Duck Duck Goat, The Izakaya at Momotoro, and more.

The restaurant is described as "paying homage to American country club culture" with a "focus on seasonal American cuisine."

On the breakfast menu, expect to see dishes like a smoked fish plate with whitefish, sturgeon, salmon, and a bagel; buttermilk pancakes with berries, whipped ricotta, and walnuts; and baked eggs with spicy tomato, feta, and merguez.

Switching over to lunch and dinner, look for items like wood-grilled beef short ribs with maitake mushrooms, Chinese broccoli, and black garlic; a whole roasted chicken with polenta and garlic sausage; and more. (You can view the full menu here.)

Somerset has already attracted fans thus far, with a 4.5-star rating out of 16 reviews on Yelp.

Alan D., who was among the first Yelpers to review the new spot on October 8th, said: "According to British writer Somerset Maugham, 'It's a funny thing about life; if you refuse to accept anything but the best, you very often get it.' Boka has lived up to their namesake's wisdom."

And John G. said: "It's great to have a Boka Group restaurant in our neighborhood. The restaurant design and menu are great. We started with the Spanish octopus, which was tender and had pickles and other condiments."

Interested? Stop by to welcome the new business to the neighborhood. Somerset is open Friday and Saturday from 4:30pm–11pm, daily from 11am–3pm, and Sunday–Thursday from 4:30pm–10pm.
