A new cafe and chocolatier shop, offering desserts and more, has opened its doors in the neighborhood. Located at 609 N State St. in River North, the fresh arrival is called L.A. Burdick Handmade Chocolates.
The chocolatier—which also has locations in New York, New Hampshire, and Massachusetts—is best known for its signature bonbons and holiday chocolates. It also offers hot drinks like Colombian-style coffee, white drinking chocolate, and dark and spicy drinking chocolate.
There's also a selection of baked goods like chocolate covered lemon cake, chocolate hazelnut cake, lemon blueberry and apricot macaroons and more. (You can see the full line of chocolates here.)
With a five-star rating out of 10 reviews on Yelp so far, L.A. Burdick Handmade Chocolates seems to be a welcome addition to the neighborhood.
Carolyn I., who was among the first Yelpers to review the new spot on September 21st, said: "They say life is like a box of chocolates. Well if life was L.A. Burdick's chocolates, everyone would be perfectly happy."
And Justin S. said: "I'm ecstatic! Finally, L.A. Burdick in Chicago! I've been a fan of the brand for years and can say, without a doubt, and it is the best drinking chocolate in the world."
