Craving ramen? You're in luck: a new business has opened its doors in the neighborhood. Called Kameya Ramen, the fresh arrival is located at 604 W Belmont Ave. (between Broadway & Orchard Street) in Lakeview.
Kameya, which also has a location on Webster Avenue in Lincoln Park, specializes in Japanese-style ramen, as well as Korean bi bim bap cooked in hot stone pots.
On the ramen side of the menu, look for bowls topped with bulgogi, chicken, veggies, pork belly or gyoza. For the bi bim bap, you can choose from bulgogi, chicken or veggie.
For both dishes, you can add extras like tofu, egg, brown rice and kimchee. And if you still have room for more, there are sides like spring rolls, kimchee pork buns, fried gyoza and cheese balls.
The new addition has garnered rave reviews thus far, with a five-star rating out of four reviews on Yelp.
Bettie D., who was among the first Yelpers to review the new spot on September 22nd, said: "One of the best ramen spots. I'm so glad they decided to open this restaurant. They have another one on Webster. I tried their ramen there and it was AMMMMMMAAAZINGG."
Yelper Wendy M. added: “Welcome addition to the neighborhood! After finding out they are the same Kameya as that on Webster, I went for lunch and was not disappointed! Tasty ramen and bibimbap.”
And Matthew D W. said: "The bibimbap here is definitely the best in the area! The owners were extremely friendly and and they accommodated a request that wasn't on their menu. We will definitely be going back soon."
Head on over to check it out: Kameya Ramen is open Tuesday–Thursday from 4:30pm–9:30pm, Friday and Saturday from 11am–10pm, and Sunday from noon–9pm.
