A new chicken shop has opened its doors in the neighborhood. Located at 1501 W. Madison St. in the West Loop, the new addition is called Harold's Chicken West Loop.
Harold's Chicken was founded in 1950, and has multiple locations throughout Illinois, Indiana and Iowa. Originally, the restaurant featured soul-food speciality items like fried chicken and dumplings, but the menu has evolved over the years.
The menu at West Loop is extensive. Expect to see items like a variety of fried chicken plates, shrimp and fish buckets with tilapia, catfish and perch, and combo meals where you can mix-and-match your favorites.
There's an array of sides on offer as well, like okra, hushpuppies, mac and cheese bites, and more. (You can check out the full menu here.)
It's still early days for the fledgling business—it's got just one review on Yelp thus far.
Harrison C., who was the first Yelper to review the new spot on October 2nd, said: "I've been going to Harold's for years and this is the best one. 1/2 white lemon pepper with mild is the way to go. Norm is the Chicken Boss."
Swing on by to take a peek for yourself: Harold's Chicken West Loop is open Monday–Wednesday from 10am–10pm, Thursday–Saturday from 10am–5am, and Sunday from 10am–9pm.
