A new wine bar and New American spot has made its debut in the neighborhood. Called The Press Room, the fresh arrival is located at 1134 W Washington Blvd. (between May St. & Racine Ave.) in the West Loop.

Located inside the historic Free Methodist Publishing House building, the restaurant specializes in "modern eclectic wine bar fare" and variations on classic American dishes.

There is a variety of small plates created specifically to pair with the extensive wine selection on offer. Expect to see rotating charcuterie plates and cheeses like "Bright Meadow Cheddar" from Indiana and "Vino Rosso" from Wisconsin.

For starters, there's items like chicken liver mousse, crudite and roasted carrots. On the dinner side of the menu, expect to see items like lamb meatballs and a braised short rib meat pie with root vegetables.

The extensive wine list features a variety of sparking wines, rosés, whites, reds and dessert wines. (You can check out the full wine list here.)

With a 4.5-star rating out of six reviews on Yelp so far, The Press Room is on its way to developing a local fan base.

Niti B., who was among the first Yelpers to review the new spot on September 25th, said: "Speakeasy, wine bar, and West Loop...all things that I am on board with! Nestled on Washington away from the trendy crowds of Randolph Street, this establishment draws in the local crowd."

Yelper Blake L. added: “Welcome to da West Loop! Actually let's welcome The Press Room, with open arms.”

And Chrissy K. said: "I'm so glad I get to come to Chicago from time to time to experience places like this. I stopped in with some local friends who love trying new spots and I'm so happy we did! "

Swing on by to take a peek for yourself: The Press Room is open Monday–Saturday from 5pm–1am, and Sunday from 5pm–11pm.
