If you've got Italian on the mind, a recent opening is need-to-know. Located at 10250 Santa Monica Blvd. in Century City, the fresh addition is called Eataly.
This new Italian market, restaurant, and café—located inside the Westfield Century City mall—is the latest addition to chef Mario Batali's Eataly family, which has other outposts in New York, Boston, Chicago, and throughout Italy and beyond.
The space has two levels packed with fresh produce, imported salami and cheeses, a vast selection of Italian wines, pastas, and hard-to-find ingredients essential for Italian cooking.
There are three restaurants within the space as well: La Piazza is modeled after a traditional Italian square, and features Italian street food and shareable bites; Il Pesce Cucina specializes in seafood and wild caught California fish dishes; and La Pizza & La Pasta serves a variety of Neapolitan-style fare. (You can check out all that's on offer at Eataly here.)
With a 3.5-star rating out of 23 reviews on Yelp so far, the newcomer has gotten a good response.
Jennifer Z., who was among the first Yelpers to review the new spot on November 4th, said: "Eataly is a supermarket with a unique concept. You can drink wine while doing the grocery shopping. You can also eat there and buy whatever you like on the table from the market."
Yelper Allison C. added: “Incredible!! So happy we have one in L.A. now! I'd seen photos and read about the ones they have in NYC and Chicago and I have to admit that seeing it in the flesh did not disappoint!"
And Eric B. said: "We arrived at 2 p.m. the second day they opened. The line looked ridiculous, but as long as it looked (200ish people), it took 40 minutes to get into the main door. We headed straight to the pizza."
Eataly is now open at 10250 Santa Monica Blvd., so stop by to welcome the new business to the neighborhood.
