A new spot to score shaved ice and more has opened its doors in the neighborhood. Located at 7851 Crenshaw Blvd. in Hyde Park, the new arrival is called Retro Girls Hawaiian Ice Shack.
This new neighborhood dessert spot specializes in a variety of popular island-inspired treats, like shaved ice with sweet cream, tropical "zipcicles," Hawaiian banana splits, and more. There are 21 different flavors of shaved ice syrups to choose from, and an array of toppings to round things out.
Retro Girls also serves Thrifty's ice cream by the cone, or sandwiched between two giant cookies.
Retro Girls Hawaiian Ice Shack has just one review on Yelp, which gives it a five-star rating thus far.
Katya Z., who was the first Yelper to review the new spot on November 3rd, said: "I went here today...had noticed the Hawaiian decorations a few times, but was unsure as to what was sold here, due to the trees covering the sign. Glad we stopped by and the owner was the sweetest lady."
