Highland Park Gets A New Grocery Store: 'Cookbook'Photo: Xiaoliang L./Yelp

A new grocery store and cheese shop, offering fruits and veggies and more, has made its debut in the neighborhood. The fresh addition to Highland Park, called Cookbook, is located at 5611 N Figueroa St.

Cookbook—which has another location in Echo Park—bills itself as a neighborhood greengrocer, specializing in responsibly grown local food.

Expect to see items on offer from California purveyors and farmers, like fresh produce, meat, cheeses, beans from Sightglass Coffee, and bean-to-bar Dandelion Chocolate.

The new arrival has gotten good reviews thus far, with a four-star rating out of five reviews on Yelp.

Rob Degma N., who was among the first Yelpers to review the new spot on October 16th, said: "It's so great to have a grocery on the block! Especially Cookbook! I visited the Echo Park location a couple years ago and was happy to hear this location recently opened."

Yelper Deidre M. added: “Popped by this spot today while my boyfriend was at his office down the street. Very nicely curated store with a gorgeous greeting of unique flowers and plants. Small but diverse selection of produce.”

And M S. said: "OK, so it is about time that LA is finally catching on to the bodega/market culture. To me, this means that the city is becoming more of a city—more walkable, and more neighborhood-oriented."

Cookbook is now open at 5611 N Figueroa St., so head on over to check it out.
