With a recent move into Murray Hill, popular French eatery Maison Kayser continues its expansion across New York. The bakery, breakfast and brunch spot has opened a new location at 370 Lexington Ave. (between 41st St. & 40th St.).

Helmed by artisan boulanger Eric Kayser, Maison Kayser—which has over 100 locations throughout New York City and around the globe—got its start in 1996 as a small boulangerie in Paris.

The bakery boasts roughly 300 freshly made products, ranging from breads and pastries to classic French bistro dishes and grab-and-go sandwiches.

For breads, expect to see traditional French mainstays like baguettes, tourte de meule (millstone pie) and whole wheat and rye breads. A selection of les petit pains with cheese, walnut and raisins, olives, fig or seeds is also available.

The boulangerie uses five ingredients for all its breads, Kayser writes on its website: "flour, liquid levain, salt, water, and a lot of passion."

For something heartier, the café features a seasonal menu of brunch and lunch items from its chef de cuisine, like French onion soup, croque-monsieur and tartines.

Grab-and-go lunches for those in a hurry are also on offer, including a Parisian-style ham and cheese sandwich on a baguette, and an Italian-style one with tomato, mozzarella and pesto on an olive ciabatta bread. Vegetarians can enjoy a sandwich with marinated veggies on a sun-dried tomato ciabatta.

Rounding things out are desserts like chocolate mousse, crème caramel and mango panna cotta served in verrines. (You can get an idea of what's on offer here.)

With a 4.5-star rating out of two reviews on Yelp so far, Maison Keyser has been warmly received by patrons.

Linda C., who was among the first Yelpers to review the new spot on December 7th, said: "Opening day today. Got a very good, tasty tuna salad sandwich. On Tuesday, I scored a free cloth bag with a whole loaf of their fresh bread and a plain croissant."

Yelper Benson Y. added: “The staff at this branch was very nice as I tried to pick out a treat. It's great to see a business like this take over this space, and I hope they are around for years to come."

Swing on by to take a peek for yourself: Maison Keyser is open weekdays from 6:30am–10pm, and weekends from 8am–8pm.
