A new bar and Japanese spot has opened for business in the neighborhood. The new addition to Wicker Park, called Anaba Handroll Bar, is located at 1742 W Division (between Wood St. & Hermitage Ave.)
This new eatery—the latest creation from the owners of Mana Food Bar—specializes in temaki sushi, or hand rolls, with a variety of options to choose from.
On the menu, expect to see rolls with salmon; tuna; yellowtail; oyster mushrooms with garlic and soy; sesame-roasted squash; blue crab; and lobster. Rolls can be ordered a la carte, or in plates of three, four, five or six rolls.
Rounding the menu out are libations like Japanese whisky, hot or cold sake, Sapporo beer, wine, and signature cocktails like a "saketini" with sake and cucumber. (You can check out the full menu here.)
The fresh addition has already attracted fans thus far, with a five-star rating out of two reviews on Yelp.
Cassandra A., who was among the first Yelpers to review the new spot on December 2nd, said: "Obsessed. We came for a quick bite before the Nutcracker on Friday, and I loved this place. Service was efficient but thoughtful. Food was so fresh and quick."
Yelper Laura A. added: “So delicious! If you like sushi, the hand rolls are a nice alternative to the usual overstuffed rolls. Each one is made to order right before you eat it, so the nori is still fresh."
Intrigued? Stop in to try it for yourself. ANABA Handroll Bar is open Monday–Thursday from 5pm–10pm, Friday and Saturday from 5pm–11pm, and Sunday from 5pm–9pm.
