A new Japanese, Korean and Asian fusion spot has debuted in the neighborhood. The new addition to Spring Branch North, called Soban, is located at 2420 Gessner Rd.
This newcomer offers a mix of traditional Japanese and Korean dishes. On the Korean side, there's beef bulgogi, bibimbap, and kimchi fried rice; for a Japanese meal, diners can select tempura udon, tuna poke, or shrimp teriyaki. Most dishes on the menu are under $10.
While Soban doesn't offer alcoholic drinks, there's a selection of canned sodas on offer, along with mochi ice cream for dessert.
Soban has just two reviews on Yelp, which give it a 4.5-star rating thus far.
John K., who was the first Yelper to review the new spot on November 22nd, said: "It has a mix of Korean and Japanese staples. The place is family-owned and the staff is very kind. They take pride in the food and make an effort to keep the customers."
And Carlos R. said: "It's a fantastic local restaurant, a major addition of diverse food in Spring Branch. It's a local mom-and-pop shop which is quiet and a calm spot to have a meal after a long day at work. Prices vary from 6-10 bucks of delicious food."
Intrigued? Stop in to try it for yourself. Soban is open Monday–Saturday from 11am–9pm, and Sunday from noon–8pm.
