A new potted plant store has opened up in the neighborhood. Located at 448 Amsterdam Ave. (between 81st St. & 82nd St.) on the Upper West Side, the fresh addition is called The Sill.

This new plant purveyor—which has another outpost in the city, at 84 Hester St.—offers an array of plant options for the home or office, including succulents, low-light plants, plants for small spaces and plants that are pet-friendly.

If you're looking for plants that require little maintenance, succulents may be the way to go. Look for varieties like aloe vera or air plants, which require little water or attention. For plants that are pet-friendly, there are a variety of options to choose from, like ferns and peperomia.

Each plant comes with soil mix and a decorative pot in an array of designs.

The shop offers weekly classes as well, such as DIY macrame and a holiday workshop where you'll "learn all about the Norfolk Island pine tree, then take home your own in a 4” diameter plastic nursery pot." (You can check out the full selection of plants on offer here, and a list of current workshops being offered here.)

With just one review on Yelp thus far, The Sill currently has a five-star rating.

Joanne H., who was the first Yelper to review the new spot on December 14th, said: "They have a huge selection here, and the open space allowed me to fully appreciate the beautiful shop. I went in to return planters and brought in two succulents."

Swing on by to take a peek for yourself: The Sill is open weekdays from 11am–8pm, and weekends from 10am–6pm.
