If ramen is what you're after, look no further than this new business. The newcomer to Chinatown, called Shinka Ramen & Sake Bar, is located at 93 Bowery St. (between Canal St. & Hester St.)
Located inside the Wyndham Garden Hotel, Shinka specializes in a variety of ramen styles, from classic tonkotsu with a creamy pork broth and slices of chashu pork to a beef bone marrow ramen with brisket. For vegetarians, there's a soymilk ramen with braised tofu, bamboo shoots, and wood ear mushrooms.
In addition to ramen, diners can enjoy small plates like gyoza dumplings, honey-Sriracha pork ribs, and pulled pork nachos with wonton crisps, kimchi, and spicy mayo. There's also a selection of Japanese craft beer and sake.
Shinka Ramen & Sake Bar has garnered rave reviews thus far, with a 4.5-star rating out of 14 reviews on Yelp.
Wen Y., who was among the first Yelpers to review the new spot on November 30th, said: "Great food, great atmosphere with very friendly staff. If you're looking for something a bit more exciting than your traditional ramen shop, this is the place to be."
Yelper Anna-May A. added: “My bone marrow ramen was rich and delicious. The broth was unctuous and the fattiness from the bone marrow just coats your tongue, in the best way."
And Michael C. said: "Finally opened, so family and I tried it out right away! We're so glad we did, and now we've got a new spot to hit up while in Chinatown. Had three apps and they all hit the spot!"
Intrigued? Stop in to try it for yourself. Shinka Ramen & Sake Bar is open Monday–Saturday from 5pm–11pm, and Sunday from 5pm–10pm.
