Tea + Victory
2030 E. T.C. Jester Blvd., The Heights
Tea + Victory is a board game cafe, offering patrons a large space in which to enjoy food, coffee and tea while they play board games from its 500 game selection.
Diners can expect everything from snacks like deviled eggs with smoked salmon, fried mozzarella curds with green goddess sauce, to a heartier meal like their selection of English pasties filled with steak and potato, meatball and mozzarella, butternut squash and parmesan. Tea + Victory also offers tiered plates of tea sandwiches to go with a pot of tea. (You can check out their full menu here.)
With a 4.5-star rating out of 11 reviews, Tea + Victory is a hit with Yelp users.
Yelper Hayley H., who reviewed Tea + Victory on April 16, wrote, "This place is really great. Whether you're into in-depth and large scale board games, Cards Against Humanity, or simple Connect 4 - this place has got it all. Clean, hip design, plenty of space and plenty of games."
Jennifer T. noted, "When you walk in on the right there are booths that are ideal if you want to study. They have a good amount of tables and outlets on the walls. It's mainly a place for social gathering to play games so it can get loud."

Bouchee Patisserie
1600 West Loop S., Greater Uptown
Parisian-inspired Bouchee Patisserie is a patisserie, cake shop and cafe located in the Post Oak Hotel at Uptown Houston.
The confectionery offers an assortment of treats like house-made bonbons, macarons, celebratory cakes and gelato in its French-styled space.
Bouchee Patisserie is still finding its way, with 3.5 stars out of two reviews on the site, but it's early days yet.
Yelper Angie M., who was the first to review Bouchee Patisserie on April 3, wrote, "I simply had heaven in a box... Cheers to the wonderful staff."
Bouchee Patisserie is open from 6:30 a.m.–11 p.m. Monday-Thursday, 6:30 a.m.–midnight on Friday and Saturday, and 6:30 a.m.–10 p.m. on Sunday.
La Sicilia
515 Westheimer Rd., Ste. C, Montrose
La Sicilia is a European-style bakery and cafe, offering custom cakes, cookies, pies, breads and more. Co-owners Antonio Rios and Sicilian-born Diego Chiarello Rios opened it in March, OutSmart reports.
La Sicilia's sweet treats include espresso profiteroles, triple chocolate butterscotch cookies, and their popular cannoli. (You can check out more of their baked goods at their website here.)
Yelp users are excited about La Sicilia, which currently holds 4.5 stars out of 32 reviews on the site.
Yelper Vicky L., who was one of the first users to visit La Sicilia on April 22, wrote, "Wow! Really lovely bakery cafe that is authentic and reasonably priced. I only eat cannoli that are freshly piped and this place does it right. The cannoli shell is perfectly crunchy and you can choose from a few different fillings, though I like sticking with the traditional."
Cuong T. noted, "Went in and got their tiramisu cannoli hoping it would at least rival the ones I've had in Philly. Let's just say I have one less reason to visit Philly again. These cannolis were fantastic."
La Sicilia is open from 7 a.m.–7 p.m. on weekdays and 8 a.m.–5 p.m. on Saturday. (It's closed on Sunday.)
Cafe Poetes
122 W. Gray St., Fourth Ward
Cafe Poetes is another French-inspired patisserie focused on its specialty of éclairs. The brainchild of Paris-born Karine Favre-Massartic, it has earned praise from the Houston Chronicle for its "sweet and savory pastries with imaginative twists."
Offerings include the Éclair Pho (marinated beef brisket, pickled carrots and arugula) and the sweet salted caramel éclair. (You can check out the full here, complete with lavish photos.)
Cafe Poetes currently holds four stars out of 62 reviews on Yelp, indicating positive attention from users.
Yelper Alexandra S., who reviewed Cafe Poetes on March 27, wrote, "The entire eclair was decadent. You could even see speckles of black on the outside and inside indicating they used real vanilla bean. The filling was so creamy and fluffy encapsulated by a slightly dense yet airy pastry dough. And I thoroughly enjoyed the pecans on top - it really added to the flavor."
Yelper Anh L. wrote, "This is definitely the place for a photo op. The tables inside are a bit small, but there is outside seating. Everything about this cafe is cute and it's like a little piece of Europe in the middle of Houston. I'll definitely be back."
