Stoney's Uptown Joint
1035 E. 17th Ave., North Capitol Hill

Stoney's Uptown Joint is a new sports bar, breakfast, brunch and traditional American spot. It's designed as a cozier version of grand-scale Stoney’s Bar & Grill at West 11th Avenue and Lincoln, as co-owner Stoney Jesseph tells BusinessDen.
With more than 20 beers on tap and lots of screens for the day's games, you can still expect the 200-seat space to bring the strong sports bar vibe.
Yelp users are excited about Stoney's Uptown Joint, which currently holds 4.5 stars out of 18 reviews on the site.
Beilin Z. noted, "I had two-for-one well drinks for happy hour as well as the pizza grilled cheese with shoestrings fries and everything was great! I also really love the non-divey, cozy atmosphere and decor which sets it apart from the original Stoney's on Lincoln. I will absolutely be back soon but in the meantime I'll be thinking about that pizza grilled cheese in my dreams."
"Great food, prices, drinks and game-day atmosphere. Not to mention there are huge and nice TVs everywhere and a great outdoor space. Much needed for the area," said Yelper Zach W. in his review, and added, "Get the pretzel, chicken wings, burger or artichoke dip. Had them all and they were great."
Stoney's Uptown Joint is open from 11 a.m.–1 a.m. on Monday and Tuesday, 11 a.m.–2 a.m. Wednesday-Friday, 10 a.m.–2 a.m. on Saturday, and 10 a.m.–midnight on Sunday.
Smiling Moose Sandwich Grill & Bar
2110 S. University Blvd., University Park

Smiling Moose Sandwich Grill & Bar is a casual, full-service restaurant concept from Denver-based Smiling Moose Rocky Mountain Deli. The sandwich chain is testing a brunch menu, table service and full bar in the restaurant-sized space, as trade publication FastCasual.com explains.
However, area Yelp users are still warming up to the approach, with the location currently holding three stars out of 26 reviews on the site.
Yelper Chris H., who reviewed Smiling Moose Sandwich Grill & Bar on February 7, wrote, "The food was good, but they were out of French fries so they substituted sweet potato fries instead. But that's an upgrade in my book!"
However, Yelper Katie E. echoed other complaints about the service when she noted, "It is completely unacceptable to not tell a customer of issues the kitchen is having when seated. People have limited lunch times. An over an hour wait (or possibly no food) should be told to the customer."
Smiling Moose Sandwich Grill & Bar is open from 10 a.m.–10 p.m. Monday-Wednesday, 10 a.m.–midnight on Thursday and Friday, 8 a.m.–midnight on Saturday, and 8 a.m.–10 p.m. on Sunday.
