Hoodline crunched the numbers to find the top diners in New Orleans, using both Yelp data and our own secret sauce to produce a ranked list of the best spots to venture when cravings strike.

1. Majoria's Commerce Restaurant

Topping the list is Majoria's Commerce Restaurant at 300 Camp St. The old-school eatery that offers breakfast fare, sandwiches and more is the highest rated diner in New Orleans, boasting 4.5 stars out of 592 reviews on Yelp.

Majoria's is known for its po'boys, with options like meatball, shrimp, oyster and smoked sausage. On the menu, look for baked potatoes stuffed with cheese, veggies or bacon as well as omelets, biscuit sandwiches and more.

2. Cowbell

Need more cowbell in your life? Cowbell, situated at 8801 Oak St. in Leonidas, should do the trick. With four stars out of 445 reviews on Yelp, the diner and New American spot, serving burgers and more, has proven to be a local favorite.

Try the grilled fish tacos, chili cheese fries made with organic beef, tuna burgers, lobster mac and cheese and desserts like apple pie. Cowbell also has a full bar with an extensive list of beers, wines, cocktails and boozy coffees.

3. Please-U-Restaurant

Mid City's Please-U-Restaurant, located at 1751 Saint Charles Ave., is another top choice, with Yelpers giving the diner, breakfast and brunch spot four stars out of 190 reviews.

The restaurant serves classic Southern fare like red beans and rice with sausage, shrimp po'boys, fried catfish, as well as a large selection of traditional breakfast items like chicken and waffles, French toast, eggs, oatmeal and more. 

4. Cavan

Next up is Cavan, a cocktail bar and New American spot. This haunt is another popular go-to, with four stars out of 185 Yelp reviews. Head over to 3607 Magazine St. (between Napoleon and Louisiana) to see for yourself.

The menu offers such dishes as jerk-spiced fish with sweet potato hash and charred pineapple, grilled steak with truffle Parmesan fries, crawfish bolognese with mushroom ragout and linguine, and coconut barbecue shrimp and grits with charred poblano peppers.
