Hoodline crunched the numbers to find the best affordable Mexican restaurants around Cleveland, using both Yelp data and our own secret sauce to produce a ranked list of where to satisfy your cravings.
1. La Plaza Supermarket
Topping the list is La Plaza Supermarket. Located at 13609 Lakewood Heights Blvd. on the city's west side, the grocery store, bakery and Mexican spot is the highest rated low-priced Mexican restaurant in Cleveland, boasting 4.5 stars out of 160 reviews on Yelp.
Yelper Sarah E. wrote, "Wow. So far the only place in Cleveland that I could find authentic Tijuana-style tacos. Although not perfect, I still want to give five stars for the rarity of this. As someone from San Diego, I really miss the supermarkets like Northgate and the taquerias everywhere."
2. Chili Peppers
Next up is North Collinwood's Chili Peppers, situated at 869 E. 185th St. With four stars out of 75 reviews on Yelp, the Mexican grill has proven to be a local favorite for those looking for an affordable option.
The bill of fare includes nachos, tacos and build-your-own burritos with meat options like grilled steak, chicken, chorizo and ground beef. Don't forget the rice and beans.
3. Tapatia's Taqueria
Tapatia's Taqueria, located at 12501 Lorain Ave. in the Jefferson neighborhood, is another top choice, with Yelpers giving the cheap Mexican eatery, which offers street-style tacos, desserts, juice and smoothies, 4.5 stars out of 16 reviews.
On the menu, there's Mexican sausage, fried pork, beef tongue, beef tripe, fish and shrimp. Smoothie options include strawberry, raspberry, mango and peach. The restaurant offers a full bar plus a selection of Mexican beers.
