Arlington's first-ever Asian-Cajun restaurant has opened its doors in the neighborhood. Asiatique, located at 3225 Washington Blvd. in Clarendon, calls itself a "Cajun seafood and sushi lounge."
The menu ranges from Japanese mainstays (think miso soup, stir-fries, ramen, sushi and sashimi) to down-on-the-bayou staples like crawfish, catfish and shrimp (available with or without the head) that are served with a choice of Old Bay-based seasonings. A few items fuse the two cuisines, such as the spicy crawfish and sweet potato sushi rolls.
Details on drink options will have to await approval of a liquor license, which owner Kevin Wang said could come in late June.
The new arrival has proven popular thus far, with a five-star rating from five reviews on Yelp.
Yelper M. B. wrote, “The food here is great. The seasonings are legit and the spicy wasn't too spicy. I will definitely come back again to try the sushi — it looks wonderful!”
And Xiuyun L. said, "Gotta say, I was skeptical of the Cajun seafood/sushi concept, but I was quite surprised. Ordered the headless shrimp with crab legs combo. The seasoning for my seafood was perfect. The food was fabulous and the service was on point. I would recommend."
Intrigued? Stop in to try it for yourself. Asiatique is open from 3 p.m.–midnight on Monday-Thursday, noon–1 a.m. on Friday and Saturday, and noon–midnight on Sunday.
