Ruins

Grab a drink at Ruins, which is brought to you by the creators of area cocktail bar Armoury D.E. The new arrival specializes in Mexican and South American food, agave and rum, Eater Dallas reports.

Chef and part-owner Abram Vargas delivers an extensive menu with traditional taco options such as barbacoa, pastor and crispy chicken tinga. Tapas-style offerings include fried pork shanks, black bean and masa cakes, as well as red snapper and shrimp. 

Thirsty? With over 30 beers, a large collection of agave and rum, and an assortment of handcrafted cocktails, your thirst will soon be quenched.

Yelp users are excited about Ruins, which currently holds five stars out of seven reviews on the site.

Shelby B., who was among the first Yelpers to review the new spot on May 5, said, "I just came back from Mexico. It's Cinco de Mayo. I need real tacos. Ruins did not disappoint."

Ricky C. added, "What a fantastic addition to the Deep Ellum area. We stopped in after a long day and were greeted by a welcoming and warm staff with a wealth of information. Food was delicious and on point while we sipped through different mezcals."

Ruins is open from 11–2 a.m. daily.

Knockouts Sports Bar

Knockouts Sports Bar has a mix of 20 beers on draft and a selection of American-based dishes with Korean, Mexican and Italian influences. 

Service is provided by the attentive Knockout Girls, with menu offerings ranging from baked macaroni and cheese to sandwiches, pizza and wings. 

Knockouts Sports Bar's current Yelp rating of 3.5 stars out of 11 reviews indicates the newcomer is finding its way, but it's still early days.

Yelper Tania C., who reviewed Knockouts Sports Bar on May 4, wrote: "The ambiance is great for a sports bar. Wall-to-wall TV screens. This is a nice-size establishment with a patio. The staff is very nice and friendly — I received great service."

"This place puts Twin Peaks, Buffalo Wild Wings, Ojos Locos and Hooters to complete shame on all aspects," added Yelper Andrew S. "This establishment really gets it. We come every week for beers and apps after a long workweek and never have been disappointed."

Knockouts Sports Bar is open from 11 a.m.–midnight on Monday-Wednesday and 11–2 a.m. on Thursday-Saturday. (It's closed on Sunday.)

Tiny Victories

Neighborhood bar Tiny Victories is headed by 15-year bartender Ryan Payne, according to D Magazine. The new arrival serves wine, beer and classic cocktails in an intimate setting designed to seat only 40 people. 

Menu offerings include the 1895 Old Fashioned consisting of bourbon on rye, bitters and cane sugar; the Bidi Bidi Bom Bom with Espolon, grapefruit, lime, and hibiscus syrup; as well as a diverse selection of beer and wine. 

Yelp users are generally positive about Tiny Victories, which currently holds four stars out of 11 reviews on the site.

Yelper Jed P., who reviewed Tiny Victories on April 28, wrote: "The lounge inside is very well decorated. ... Behind the bar are shelves that go up to the ceiling filled with seemingly any spirit your heart desires. The menu seems to focus on the classic cocktails, but does have a few 'future classics' on the menu. The cocktails were really well made and reasonably priced."

And Yelper Aminah M. added: "The drinks, OMG DELICIOUS! I came here for a Yelp event, and they did not disappoint."

Tiny Victories is open from 4 p.m.–midnight on Tuesday and Wednesday, 4 p.m.–2 a.m. on Thursday and Friday, noon–2 a.m. on Saturday and noon–midnight on Sunday. (It's closed on Monday.)

Village Burger Bar

Village Burger Bar is a locally owned and operated build-your-own-burger spot and sports bar. The homegrown chain, founded by married couple Mike and Susan Matta, now has five locations across Dallas, Allen and Plano.

Diners can top a beef, turkey or veggie patty or grilled chicken with an array of cheeses, sauces and fresh vegetables. The menu also features a variety of starters, salads, paninis and signature burger selections, like the Southwest Turkey with jalapeño jack cheese, baby spinach, tomato and avocado oil.

And to help wash all that down, there's a full bar with craft beers and cocktails.

Village Burger Bar currently holds 4.5-stars out of 22 reviews on Yelp, indicating good reviews.

Yelper Rick B., who reviewed Village Burger Bar on Feb. 21, wrote: "Did we need another build-your-own burger joint with a full bar? YES! ... VBB does good old burgers right!"

"They have a good happy hour (5-7 p.m.), and the dine-in and patio atmosphere is wonderful," added Yelper F M. "VBB will definitely be one of our hangouts this summer."

Village Burger Bar is open from 11 a.m.–midnight on Monday-Thursday,
11–2 a.m. on Friday and Saturday and 11 a.m.–10 p.m. on Sunday.
