A new spot to score pizza has opened up shop in Five Points. Located at 715 E. 26th Ave., the new arrival is called Famous Original J's Pizza.
From the proprietors of Rosenberg's Bagels and Delicatessen, it's all about New York-style pies at Famous Original J's. Customers can choose between a traditional round, thin crust or the thick-crusted, square-shaped "Grandma" style based on the one served at famed Prince Street Pizza in New York's Little Italy, the business explains on its Facebook page.
Famous Original J's even imports many of its ingredients from New York and reformulates the local water to mimic that found in the Big Apple, according to Denverite.
There is a gluten-free crust available, and non-dairy eaters will appreciate the vegan mozzarella and ricotta options. (Check out the full menu here.)
Ordering is done through one of two takeout windows, one of which opens onto the patio of the neighboring 715 Club bar, with access to its seating and drinks menu.
With a 3.5-star rating from eight reviews on Yelp so far, Famous Original J's Pizza is getting solid feedback from clientele.
Ace D., who was among the first Yelpers to review the new spot on May 19, said, "The place is a dime of a find. Great pizza overall. Both the crust and sauce was on point. Great and friendly staff and amazing new place to go with friends and family."
And Rachel F. said, "Obsessed with this place for late-night bites. The pizza is the real deal, NYC-style pies and slices. Great new concept by the owners of Rosenberg's Bagels!"
