Mudsmith

Now open at 3111 Welborn St., Suite 110, in Oak Lawn is Mudsmith. The newcomer, which has an additional Dallas outpost in Lower Greenville, offers breakfast and brunch, as well as drink varieties like Avoca coffee, smoothies, rotating beer and more. 

Additional menu options include an assortment of pastries, sandwiches, breakfast plates and other fare, along with veggie and vegan options like an almond butter rice cake and an open-faced ciabatta veggie caprese with mushrooms, kale, caramelized onion, tomato, basil pesto and melted mozzarella. Humble: Simply Good Pie

A new spot to score desserts, coffee and tea has recently opened in Northeast Dallas. The new arrival to the neighborhood, called Humble: Simply Good Pies, is located at 9014 Garland Road.

Look forward to a menu that changes by the season, depending on the availability of local fresh fruit. Spring flavors include the chocolate cream pie, coconut cream pie, banana cream pie and Alabama pecan pie.

Cooper's Meat Market

Next up is Cooper's Meat Market — a meat shop that's located at 778 Fort Worth Ave., Suite G-150, in West Dallas.

This longtime San Antonio business is not just a meat shop — it doubles as a steakhouse and bar. Owned by Michael Johnson and Victoria Berezina, and helmed by chef Kenny Mills (Capital Grille and Sullivan's Steakhouse), the shop produces high-quality beef, poultry, fish and other meats, the Dallas Observer reports.  

Ruins

New to 2653 Commerce St. in Northeast Dallas is Ruins, a bar and Mexican spot, brought to you by the creators of area cocktail bar Armoury D.E. The new arrival specializes in Mexican and South American food and drinks made with agave and rum, Eater Dallas reports.

Chef and part-owner Abram Vargas delivers an extensive menu with traditional taco options such as barbacoa, pastor and crispy chicken tinga. Small plate offerings include fried pork shanks, black bean and masa cakes, as well as red snapper and shrimp. 

The Charles

Now open at 1632 Market Center Blvd. is The Charles, an Italian-inspired eatery  in the Design District.

Chef J Chastain, whose resume includes Stephan Pyles and the Rosewood Mansion on Turtle Creek, is well known in foodie circles as a star chef, CultureMap Dallas reports. 

The restaurant, with Chastain at the helm, features a wood-fired grill and housemade pasta, with menu items ranging from fresh crudo to beef tartare and salsa bianca to the ricotta gnudi (gnocchi-like dumplings) with brown butter honey, sage and hazelnuts.
