Smoking Kow BBQ has opened its first brick-and-mortar restaurant at 3250 Duke St., following the success of the operation's two food trucks. Owned by Dylan Kough, the new barbecue joint is serving up smoked meats in a rustic-modern space.
In addition to its famous street tacos, the new eatery serves hand-rubbed chicken, pulled pork, ribs and brisket on platters with house-made sides — like mac and cheese, coleslaw and cornbread — or in sandwich form.
Patrons can dine at one of the communal tables, which seat about 20, or take their slow-cooked meals to go.
Smoking Kow BBQ has gotten an enthusiastic response thus far, with a 4.5-star rating out of 22 reviews on Yelp.
Yelper Chris S. said, "Great new addition to Alexandria's growing barbecue scene. While the space is small and has pretty limited parking, it easily takes the crown as Alexandria's best barbecue."
"This is the best barbecue in the area, hands-down," Yelper Riley S. said. "Smoking Kow is an awesome, no-frills barbecue joint with great food and customer service. I've heard that they'll be serving beer soon, and I can't wait to go back throughout the summer for drinks and barbecue."
