A modern Chinese restaurant has debuted in the Bluebird district. Called Q House, the new arrival at 3421 E. Colfax Ave. is a partnership between chef Christopher Lin, whose family is from Taiwan, Jonathan Pinto and Jennifer Mattioni.

The new restaurant's name comes from the concept of Q, "which is Taiwanese slang for 'perfectly done,' " Mattioni tells Westword.

On the menu, look for classic Taiwanese and Chinese fare along with new twists on traditional dishes. Standout offerings include the pork belly bun with pickled mustard greens, peanuts and cilantro; confit duck lo mein; fried rice with smoked trout, bacon and eggs; and mussels in black bean sauce.

Round out your meal with desserts like the almond tapioca pudding and a fritter made with red beans, dates and tamarind caramel sauce. Wine, beer and Asian-inspired cocktails are also available. (See full menu here.)

Q House has proven popular thus far, with a 4.5-star rating out of 12 reviews on Yelp.

"Well color me impressed! Modern and welcoming decor, attentive and friendly service, incredible food and great location," said Yelper M L., who reviewed the new eatery on May 11. "We especially loved the pork belly buns, fried eggplant and stir-fried mee fun. ... Will absolutely be back soon to try the rest of the menu!"

And R. Tony S. said, "Haven't been wowed in a while and this place is a home run! It's got the ideal location, vibe, decor, neighborhood, patio and, of course, crazy good service, food and beverages!"

Swing on by to take a peek for yourself: Q House is open from 4–10 p.m. on Tuesday-Sunday. (It's closed on Monday.)
