Topping the list is Southern eatery Willie Mae's Scotch House, a neighborhood legend that says it serves up "food for your soul." Located at 2401 St. Ann St., it's the most popular business in the neighborhood, boasting four stars out of 2,070 reviews on Yelp.
Now operated by the namesake's great-granddaughter, Willie Mae's has been in business since 1957. Stop in for the famous fried chicken, veal smothered in brown gravy, fried fish, red beans and rice, macaroni and cheese, fried okra, sweet potato fries, sweet peas, cornbread muffins and other Southern fare.
2. Li'l Dizzy's Cafe

Offering Creole soul food, Li'l Dizzy's Cafe is another top choice. Yelpers give the casual, no-frills eatery, located at 1500 Esplanade Ave., four stars out of 397 reviews.
"At Lil’ Dizzy’s, producing great fried chicken is a matter of historical pride," the restaurant's website says.
On the menu, look for seafood gumbo and po'boys made with fried shrimp, oysters, catfish or homemade smoked sausage. Round out your meal with bread pudding for dessert. Or sample a little bit of everything at the weekday and Sunday buffets.
3. Treme Coffeehouse

The family-owned Treme Coffeehouse is another much-loved neighborhood go-to, with 4.5 stars out of 85 Yelp reviews. Head over to 1501 St. Philip St. to try the locally roasted coffee, loose-leaf teas and pastries for yourself.
Besides the wide variety of hot and cold brews, the coffeehouse and cafe offers sandwiches like roast beef and cheddar, tuna salad, and turkey with cheese — and it also serves a variety of classic "snoballs," a sweet shaved-ice treat with flavored syrup on top.
4. Fatma's Cozy Corner

Then there's Fatma's Cozy Corner, which has earned 4.5 stars out of 37 reviews on Yelp. You can find the bakery and Turkish cafe, which offers coffee and tea and more, at 1532 Ursulines Ave.
