1. Mitchell's Homemade Ice Cream - Cleveland

Topping the list is Mitchell's Homemade Ice Cream - Cleveland, the flagship location for the beloved Northeast Ohio chain. Offering handcrafted ice cream and tours of its kitchen at 1867 W. 25th St., it's the highest rated business in the neighborhood, boasting five stars out of 250 reviews on Yelp.

Many of the ingredients are sourced locally, including the free-range eggs, grass-fed dairy and organic berries used in the frozen desserts. More than three-dozen flavors are available plus seasonal and vegan offerings. Try the classic vanilla made with Madagascar beans, the vegan salted caramel pecan churned with coconut milk and the seasonal lavender honey crafted with Ohio honey and flowers from Mulberry Creek. 

2. Soho Chicken + Whiskey

Next up is Soho Chicken + Whiskey, situated at 1889 W. 25th St., a bar and restaurant cooking up comfort food with a Southern twist. With 4.5 stars out of 335 reviews on Yelp, it's proved to be a local favorite.

Stop by for a chicken dinner made with brined, breaded and deep-fried meat, shrimp and grits or light snacks like fried green tomatoes with cheese curd, gumbo and smoked fish dip with avocado.

3. Cleveland Tea Revival

It's always tea time at Cleveland Tea Revival, a charming spot that's serving organic and custom-blended teas in the Hingetown section of Ohio City. Come see why Yelpers give the business, located at 1424 W. 29th St., five stars out of 96 reviews.

Relax and sip oolong, herbal, white and green teas while nibbling on light bites like avocado toast. Or step outside and admire the living wall of plants growing on the front of the building. Want to expand your knowledge? Take one of the kombucha tea classes for $30. 

4. Bakersfield

Head over to 2058 W. 25th St. to visit Bakersfield, a bar and taqueria that is another much-loved neighborhood go-to. Earning 4.5 stars out of 261 Yelp reviews, Bakersfield makes its corn tortillas in-house.

On the menu, look for a wide selection of creative Mexican-inspired fare, including the short rib tostada with fried egg, black beans and queso fresco, the al pastor taco (chili-marinated pork, pineapple, pickled white onion and cilantro) or the Cuban sandwich on a telera roll. 

5. Townhall

Finally, there's Townhall, a New American spot that has earned four stars out of 829 reviews on Yelp. Located at 1909 W. 25th St., the modern restaurant and bar serves up locally sourced fare as well as smoothies, cold-pressed juices and organic coffee.

Offerings include slow-simmered bone broth, prosciutto-wrapped dates, Asian-inspired bowls and flatbreads like the paella (wild shrimp, chorizo, sweet peas, provolone and saffron aioli). Special vegan and paleo menus are offered Mondays and Wednesdays, respectively.
