Hoodline crunched the numbers to find the best affordable Mexican restaurants around Elk Grove, using both Yelp data and our own secret sauce to produce a ranked list of where to venture when cravings strike.
1. Flako's Takos Taqueria
Topping the list is the original location of Flako's Takos Taqueria at 8451 Elk Grove Blvd., Suite 10. The family-owned taqueria also has outposts in downtown Sacramento and Lodi, and is the highest rated affordable Mexican restaurant in Elk Grove, boasting four stars out of 293 reviews on Yelp.

With a wide variety of meats including pork al pastor, beef tongue and menudo (Sundays only); discount Taco Tuesdays; and an extensive salsa bar featuring nopales (cactus) along with grilled jalapeños and onions, Taqueria Vallarta has earned plenty of fans.
3. Sabor A Mexico
Finally, the recently opened Sabor A Mexico, located at 8868 Bond Road, is another top choice, with Yelpers giving the affordable Mexican spot four stars out of 109 reviews.
On the menu, local favorite dishes include the shrimp fajitas and beef enchiladas. Tacos are available both Mexican-style (with just choice of meat, onion and cilantro in a soft tortilla) and American-style, in a crispy fried shell with lettuce and cheese.
