If you've got Mediterranean cuisine on the mind, a recent opening is need-to-know. Located at 2207 E. Colfax Ave. in City Park West, the new arrival is called Ali Baba Grill. This is the family-owned restaurant group's fifth location.
It serves up Lebanese and Mediterranean fare, including chicken shawarma (sliced chicken marinated in garlic, oranges and spices, served with a side of garlic paste), bone-in lamb shank baked in tomato sauce and beef kebabs (two skewers of grilled beef tenderloin with grilled onions, red bell peppers and tomato).
With a four-star rating out of five reviews on Yelp so far, Ali Baba Grill has gotten a good response.
Finneus M., who was among the first Yelpers to review the new spot on June 11, wrote, "I had the traditional chicken shawarma sandwich with fries, which of course exceeded my expectations. I've been to several Lebanese and Mediterranean restaurants throughout the years and have never found the quality and authenticity that Ali Baba has achieved."
And Laith E. wrote, "My favorite Mediterranean place in Denver! I love the hummus and falafel. The chicken kebabs, my go-to entree, come with rice, hummus and a salad. I can't get enough of this place!"
