1. The Thirsty Beaver
Topping the list is The Thirsty Beaver. Located at 1225 Central Ave. in Plaza Midwood, this hole-in-the-wall bar is the highest-rated dive bar in Charlotte, boasting 4.5 stars out of 119 reviews on Yelp. Look for a big menu of bloody marys, two pool tables and a free jukebox, as well as a vintage feel.
2. Hattie's Tap & Tavern
Next up is Hattie's Tap & Tavern, situated at 2918 The Plaza at Plaza Midwood. With five stars out of 38 reviews on Yelp, the dive bar has proven to be a local favorite for its patio (with cornhole and Jenga) and its inexpensive beer specials. The draft list includes a variety of craft beer, cider and kombucha.
3. Moosehead Grill
Madison Park's Moosehead Grill, located at 1807 Montford Dr., is another top choice, with Yelpers giving the dive bar four stars out of 114 reviews. According to its website, Moosehead's wings, which come in ten flavors, were "voted best overall in Charlotte and second place national at the Buffalo Wing Competition."
