A new outpost of Northern California barbecue chain Buckhorn BBQ has opened its doors in the Vintage Faire Mall. The location at 3401 Dale Road, Suite 654 is its first in Modesto.
Though known for its signature "Buck" tri-tip sandwiches, as well as burgers, pulled pork and more, the barbecue joint also serves classic sides like mac and cheese and baked beans. It also offers salads and has a full bar with signature cocktails like the Buckhorn Bloody take on the bloody mary.
Diners can ask for a tri-tip burger (with a beef patty, tri-tip and housemade Red Ranch sauce) to experience the best of both worlds. (You can check out the full menu here.)
With a 3-star rating out of 14 reviews on Yelp so far, Buckhorn BBQ has gotten a mixed response from clientele.
Dave L., who was among the first Yelpers to review the new spot on June 15, said, "Atmosphere is fine. Service is spotty but seemed friendly. Food is average at best. Prices are high for portion size and food quality."
But Scott B. said, "I do not know about the other reviews but I went with some from work and it was the best food I have had in a long time. ... Ribs, tri tip and pork were awesome. The beans were like mom made."
