There's a brand-new sushi bar in town. The newcomer to Capital City Market, called O-Ku DC, is located at 1274 Fifth St. NE.
With sister restaurants in Charleston, Atlanta and Charlotte, O-Ku DC offers "modern Japanese cuisine defined by the freshest ingredients from around the world," according to the site.
The fresh addition has gotten off to a solid start thus far, with a four-star rating out of five reviews on Yelp.
Mae L., who was among the first Yelpers to review the new spot on June 23, wrote, "Definitely recommend the Harami from the grill menu. We ordered the Crunchy Prawn, Spicy Tuna, Rock Shrimp, and Yellowtail rolls. Wanted to try the Soft Shell Crab roll, but they were out. The Crunchy Prawn roll was the table's favorite."
And E B. wrote, "We went on opening night and both had the Omakase menu. Atmosphere was amazing (dark lighting, good music, beautiful surroundings, fun crowd), food was outstanding and service was on point!"
Swing on by to take a peek for yourself: O-Ku DC is open from 5 p.m.–10:30 p.m. on Monday-Wednesday, 5 p.m.–11 p.m. on Thursday, and 5 p.m.–1 a.m. on Friday and Saturday. (It's closed on Sunday.)
