Hoodline crunched the numbers to find the top Japanese restaurants around Stockton, using both Yelp data and our own secret sauce to produce a ranked list of the best places to visit when you're in the mood for sushi, ramen and more.
1. Raw Sushi Bistro
Topping the list is Raw Sushi Bistro. Located at 10742 Trinity Parkway in Spanos Park West, this sushi bar is the highest rated Japanese restaurant in Stockton, boasting four stars out of 346 reviews on Yelp.
The menu includes classics like California and spicy tuna rolls, along with yellow tail and giant scallop nigiri. There are also lunch and dinner entrees, salads and appetizers.
Take it from Yelper Sydney D., who reviewed the sushi bar on June 12: "We absolutely adore the owner, as he is always polite, willing to accommodate small or large groups, and answers every question we have with an eagerness to please. The food is amazing, I would go so far as to say the best sushi in Stockton."
2. Sanchon Ramen & BBQ
Next up is Anderson's Sanchon Ramen & BBQ, situated at 6252-6254 Pacific Ave. With four stars out of 169 reviews on Yelp, it has proven to be a local favorite.
This spot offers a fusion of Japanese and Korean fare, with dishes like yakisoba, tempura ramen and spicy pork bibimbap.
"It's definitely worth a try if you're craving some ramen! Ramen houses have been trending and between the two places here in Stockton, Sanchon out performed the other," wrote Yelp reviewer Jessalyn P.
3. Yujin Ramen & Noodle Bar
University's Yujin Ramen & Noodle Bar, located at 3202 Pacific Ave., is another top choice, with Yelpers giving it 4.5 stars out of 31 reviews.
Expect to find a variety of ramen like the tonkotsu with chashu pork, egg, seaweed and green onion, or choose one with a miso base if meat isn't your thing.
"I think Yujin Ramen is destined to become one of the very best restaurants in Stockton if the quality of their soft opening is any indication," wrote Yelp reviewer Kelly N. "Superior service, a rejuvenating atmosphere and tasty clean food!"
