A new spot to score barbecue and more has opened its doors in the neighborhood. Called Meaty Johnson's BBQ, the newcomer is located at 1201 Pine St. on Capitol Hill.
The eatery sells slabs of meat in bulk. Grab brisket or pulled pork in quarter-pound, half-pound and full-pound increments. Rib slabs and quarter chickens are available, as are a number of sandwiches and sides. Grab a brisket, chicken, pulled pork, sausage or chili sandwich and pair it with mac and cheese, coleslaw or cornbread.
With a five-star rating out of nine reviews on Yelp so far, Meaty Johnson's BBQ is on its way to developing a local fan base.
Yelper Shauna R., who reviewed the restaurant on June 1, wrote, "Highly recommend! All of the food I've eaten from Meaty Johnson's BBQ has been incredibly flavorful. We had Meaty Johnson's BBQ cater our wedding shower, and it was such a hit!"
And Paul T. added, "Best barbecue in town! No-frills menu, short and simple. Unlike most places where you have to douse your meat in sauce, the brisket is nice and juicy. All of the sides I have tried so far have been good."
