A new, family-run spot offering breakfast items, salads, sandwiches and more has opened for business in the neighborhood. Located at 1102 Eighth St. SE in the Navy Yard, the newcomer is called Green Leaf Cafe.
The breakfast menu includes the burrito ricco, which is stuffed with fried egg, provolone cheese, bacon, avocado, salsa and sour cream.
Craving a salad? Try out the berry farm option, which includes mixed greens, spinach, seasonal berries, European cucumbers, toasted almonds and grilled chicken with honey mustard dressing. (See the full menu here.)
It's still early days for the fledgling business—it's got just one review on Yelp so far from Jenifer S.
She wrote, "Got a roast chicken sub with lettuce, tomatoes and mayo on a baguette. Good size and tasted fine. There was the smell of wet plaster in there like they had a flood out back after the recent heavy rains, but nothing visible."
Head on over to check it out: Green Leaf Cafe is open from 2 p.m.-11 p.m. Monday-Friday, 1 p.m.-12:30 a.m. on Saturday, and 2 p.m.-10 p.m. on Sunday.
