1. Bangkok 54 Restaurant & Bar

Topping the list is Bangkok 54 Restaurant & Bar. Located at 2919 Columbia Pike in Arlington Heights, it's the highest rated Thai restaurant in the city, boasting four stars out of 830 reviews on Yelp.

The long-standing restaurant focuses on traditional Thai dishes, so come prepared for full flavors. "Our mom is the ‘curry master’ and she is very strict," the restaurant's website explains. "Thus, if the dish is supposed to be spicy, it is very hard for us to tone it down."

2. Thai Square Restaurant

Next up is Arlington Heights's Thai Square Restaurant, situated at 3217 Columbia Pike. With four stars out of 491 reviews on Yelp, the Thai spot has proven to be a local favorite.

"Appetizers shine," the Washingtonian noted in a review. "Don’t necessarily skip more traditional dishes — the green-curry chicken is near perfect — though adventurers can also do well with the likes of pork-knuckle stew."

3. T.H.A.I. in Shirlington

Fairlington-Shirlington's T.H.A.I. in Shirlington, located at 4029 Campbell Ave., The Village AT Shirlington, is another top choice, with Yelpers giving the Thai spot four stars out of 491 reviews.

Founded in 1995, the restaurant has birthed other well-known Thai restaurants like Bangkok Joe's in DC proper and Tom Yum District in Rosslyn. The focus at this location continues to be traditional dishes. If you're ready to explore beyond drunken noodles and pad see ew, try the squash potstickers or Chicken Basil.

4. Thai Curry

Thai Curry, a Thai spot in Ashton Heights, is another go-to, with four stars out of 329 Yelp reviews. Head over to 307 N. Glebe Road to see for yourself.

In addition to the standards, the restaurant offers dishes you may not be as familiar with. The "pink noodle soup is packed with squid and whole shrimp and layered over vibrant watercress in a red-stained, vinegar-and-chili fortified brew," it explains on its website. "Tom Yum Pork offers a fragrant lemon grass, nam pla and lime brew, topped with cilantro and fried garlic."

5. Ghin Na Ree Restaurant

Over in Yorktown, check out Ghin Na Ree Restaurant, which has earned four stars out of 165 reviews on Yelp. You can find the Thai spot at 2509 N. Harrison St.
