Seafood fans, take heed: there's a new spot in town to get your fix. Called Island Thyme - A Calypso Grill & Pub, the newcomer is located at 8129 Ardrey Kell Road in south Charlotte.
On its website, Island Thyme says it seeks to bring the vibe of the Bahamas (good food, rum drinks and calypso music) to Charlotte. Specials include Caribbean clams, baked with chorizo, peppers and onions.
Check out the platters of lamb shank, crab cakes, shrimp, scallops and more that come with Caribbean rice and a side of your choice.
The new addition has garnered positive reviews thus far, with a five-star rating out of three reviews on Yelp.
Clint L., who reviewed the restaurant on June 16, wrote, "This fantastic new restaurant has only been open for a few weeks, and I've already been back four times! The focus is on seafood with fresh fish flown in weekly."
Yelper Cherri S. added, “We have been there twice. Each time wonderful food, minimal to no wait, good service. Love the swordfish bites and fried shrimp platter.”
Swing on by to take a peek for yourself: Island Thyme is open from 11 a.m.–10 p.m. from Tuesday-Saturday and noon–7 p.m. on Sunday. (It's closed on Monday.)
