A new comedy club and performing arts spot has made its debut in the neighborhood. Located at 1710 Broadway in Land Park, the new addition is called Stab! Comedy Theater.

The theater offers both performances and classes in standup, improv and sketch comedy. Open mic nights are Thursdays and Saturdays.

Standup classes focus on helping students write and perform new original material, or polishing existing material. Drop-in improv workshops take place every Thursday night. (You can check out the full schedule here.)

With a five-star rating out of two reviews on Yelp so far, the newcomer is still finding an audience, but it's not getting laughed out of town.

"Ownership is clearly invested in making this theater a success and it shows," said Brett J., who reviewed the new spot on June 4. "There were a number of solid local comics. ... They don't have a license to serve booze yet, so you'll want to hang out at New Helvetia for a bit before the show (just a couple doors down)."

Yelper Mallory J. added, “Stopped in for the soft opening and had a fantastic time. Will definitely return.”
