A new bar serving up soju-based cocktails and Korean-style fried chicken has opened its doors in Locust Point. Called Jazz+Soju, the new addition is located at 900 East Fort Ave., Suite 105, in the upscale Anthem House apartments complex.
The project is the brainchild of restaurateur Michelle Min, who hopes to soon begin offering live music on Friday and Saturday nights, according to the Baltimore Sun.
On the menu, look for upscale versions of Korean-style fried chicken, fried twice in soybean oil and brushed with either spicy or normal soy garlic sauce.
Diners can accompany the meal with sides like kimchi fries, pickled radish cubes, or a savory Korean pancake with scallions. The specialty soju cocktails at the bar include a lychee soju martini and a strawberry margarita. (You can check out the full food menu here.)
With a four-star rating out of 13 reviews on Yelp so far, Jazz+Soju is getting solid feedback from clientele.
Trey W., who was among the first Yelpers to review the new spot on May 23, said, "Great atmosphere and really cool concept over all. The Korean fried chicken is made it order, as it should be, and full of flavor."
"I had the fried chicken, which was crispy and tasty both in spicy and non-spicy. The jap chae and fried rice were both on point," Yelper Jannet C. said. "The pièce de résistance was their soju cocktails. I had a lychee soju martini. It was the perfect accompaniment to dinner."
Intrigued? Stop in to try it for yourself. Jazz+Soju is open from 11 a.m.–midnight Monday-Thursday, 11 a.m.–1 a.m. on Friday and Saturday, and 11 a.m.–10 p.m. on Sunday.
