Looking to dine on refined Mexican cuisine? A new spot has you covered. Located at 777 I St. NW in Downtown, the addition is called Poca Madre.
The restaurant features dishes like sweetbreads Veracruz, sablefish with plantain maduro miso, and large shared plates including pato al pastor and tomahawk ribeye. The restaurant shares a building with the more casual Taco Bamba, both owned by chef Victor Albisu.
Poca Madre has already attracted fans thus far, with a five-star rating out of eight reviews on Yelp.
Hibah K., who was among the first Yelpers to review the new spot on June 24, wrote, "Just wow. Honestly, I haven't been this delighted and surprised by a DC restaurant since we wandered into a little place called Rose's Luxury in the fall of 2013."
Yelper Mae L. added, “The most memorable meal I've had in DC all year. Eat here ASAP before it's impossible to get a reservation. The decor, cocktail program, and menu are all incredible.”
Swing on by to take a peek for yourself: Poca Madre is open from 5 p.m.–10 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Sunday and 5 p.m.–11 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.
