Noodle fans, take heed: there's a new spot in the University District to get your fix. Located at 4507 University Way NE (aka the Ave), the newcomer is called Hunan Chinese Kitchen.
Hunan Chinese Kitchen offers a variety of rice noodle dishes with braised pork intestines, fish and preserved vegetables, chicken and more. Signature dishes include the homemade chicken (crispy chicken with peanuts, jalapeños and peppers), pickled fish and spicy boiled beef. Cucumbers with garlic sauce, sliced pork belly and mushrooms with Chinese spices are also available and served cold.
Wash down your meal with a soft drink, coconut milk, soy milk or tea.
With a 3.5-star rating out of seven reviews on Yelp so far, the new arrival is getting solid feedback from clientele.
Maggie T., who was among the first Yelpers to review the new spot on May 28, said, "Friendly staff. Great food. Great new addition to the Ave. Stop by for lunch between class, the food is prepared quickly and deliciously."
And Jake C. said, "This place is delicious. In the location that was previously Silk Road Noodle, they've remodeled the interior since then and done some menu changes. Their noodle soup is just as fabulous as before, but they've increased their menu in other items."
The eatery is open daily from 10 a.m.-9:30 p.m.
