A new pizza shop that touts its Buckeye-style pies has opened its doors in Lakewood. Located at 14701 Detroit Ave., Suite 103, Poor Junior's specializes in pizzas made with old-world pepperoni, smoked provolone and a thin and crispy crust cut into squares.
The shop, which makes its dough and sauce in-house, offers pizzas in three sizes, all with unlimited toppings. Subs are also available, like The Boss with capicola, salami, ham, smoked provolone, veggies and Italian dressing. Or try the new Dipper, an open-faced sub topped with sauce, provolone and one topping, and served with ranch for dipping. (See the menu here.)
With a five-star rating out of three reviews on Yelp so far, Poor Junior's is off to a promising start.
Sarah E., who reviewed the new spot on June 20, wrote, "The pizza here is top notch. If you like real toppings on your pizza, nice crispy thin crust, sauce that doesn't taste like it's loaded with sugar, and a nice smoky cheese than this is your new go-to pizza place."
Yelper Andrea S. added, “Pizza done right. Our family has always struggled with ordering pizza — we all like different pies. We've found our new pizza! We all agree: fresh, hot, tasty pizza.”
Swing on by to take a peek for yourself: Poor Junior's is open from 4–11 p.m. on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday, 11 a.m.–midnight on Friday and 4 p.m.–midnight on Saturday. (It's closed on Monday.)
