A new Italian restaurant has opened its doors in the neighborhood. Located at 1525 Russell St. in the Carroll - Camden Industrial Area, the fresh arrival is called GDL Italian by Giada.
Placed inside the Horeshoe Casino, recipes by chef Giada De Laurentiis are served. The website promises a "modern twist" on Italian dishes like chicken Parmesan, antipasti and baked lasagna. There's also a dessert, wine and cocktail menu.
The addition has gotten good reviews thus far, with a four-star rating out of 11 reviews on Yelp.
Yelper Evie D. wrote on June 3, “High points: great decor, comfortable uncrowded seating, great view, impeccable wait staff and homemade pasta... Low points: the music was so loud, we had to raise our voices to talk to each other. The dishes were somewhat greasy. The lasagna was under-seasoned."
And Brandy M. said, "The service was impeccable. I ordered the fritelle; fried pizza dough with garlic and Parmesan. It was a nice, light appetizer. I created my own pizza for dinner: sausage, mushroom and basil. It was perfect. Great flavor. The crust was crispy, and it was hot and fresh."
