If you love sushi, a recent opening is need-to-know. Located at 1100 Pennsylvania Ave. at the Trump International Hotel, the newcomer is called Sushi Nakazawa.

According to the Washington Post, chef Daisuke Nakazawa — who trained under Jiro Ono of "Jiro Dreams of Sushi" fame — is "by many measures, the best sushi chef in the United States and perhaps the best outside Japan." His namesake new D.C. restaurant is his second; the first, in New York, has been booked solid since it opened in 2013 (also according to the Post).

What you'll find at Sushi Nakazawa are 20-plus omakase courses chosen by the chef from its best available ingredients — a sample menu includes three different kinds of salmon, scallops and squid, flounder and snapper, and more. Diners are encouraged to ask attendants for details about each dish as it's served. Saké and wine pairings are also offered.

Sushi Nakazawa has already attracted fans thus far, with a 4.5-star rating out of eight reviews on Yelp.

Charlotte Z., who was among the first Yelpers to review the new spot on June 7, said, "Best sushi place in D.C. for sure. I'm so glad that I could be one of the earliest customers. Fish are so fresh, you cannot taste any fishiness from sushi, and chef is willing to answer all kinds of questions."

And Alexandra K. wrote, "I've been to many sushi restaurants and have eaten many omakase meals, and this is grouped at the very top of these experiences. ... There is a fleet of service staff that flank the three sushi chefs at the counter to make sure all your needs are met."

Take a peek for yourself: Sushi Nakazawa is open from 5–10 p.m. on Monday-Saturday. (It's closed on Sunday.)
