If you're in search of a fresh cup of coffee before catching a train, look no further than Blue Bottle Coffee, which recently debuted an outpost inside Union Station (50 Massachusetts Ave. NE).
Founded in Oakland, California, Blue Bottle became a Bay Area favorite before opening outlets across the nation and in Japan. Acquired last year by Nestle, the growing roaster now has a small counter inside Union Station that displays its simple menu of freshly roasted beans (never more than 48 hours old, according to the company), coffee and espresso drinks.
It's still early days for this fledgling shop—it's got just three reviews on Yelp thus far yielding 3.5 stars.
Diane C., who was the first Yelper to review the new spot on May 30, said, "This is a nice addition to Union Station. The coffee is decent. Could have more options, but not bad."
Alison G. added, "A nice kiosk tucked away near the west hall. It's nice having a Starbucks alternative. However, the price doesn't make me want to be a frequent customer."
Intrigued? Stop in to try it for yourself. Blue Bottle Coffee is open from 6 a.m.–7 p.m. daily.
