A new Thai spot has made its debut in Somerville. The fresh arrival to Spring Hill, called Dakzen, is located at 195 Elm St.

"Dak zen" is Thai for "eat noodles," and noodles of all kinds are the specialty at this "authentic Thai street food" restaurant. Popular dishes include the khao soi, a coconut curry noodle soup with chicken, and the yen ta fo, a noodle soup made with meat-stuffed tofu. The restaurant also offers build-your-own noodle bowls and a selection of Thai snacks.

Dakzen has gotten an enthusiastic response thus far, with a five-star rating out of three reviews on Yelp.

Siwapong S., who was among the first Yelpers to review the new spot on June 20, wrote, "Shout out to Dakzen! Serving the best authentic Thai street food in town. Somerville peeps, go check this place out! There are so many foods waiting to rock with you."

Yelper Karen W. added, “Went in today for the first day of their soft opening. The staff were very excited and hospitable! I had the khao soi, which was a very delicious coconut based curry broth, noodles, half an egg, pickled veggies, egg noodles, and crispy noodles. It was almost too spicy for me, but they told me it was spicy when I ordered and asked if that was okay. Make sure to order to your spice taste!"

And Wachira S. wrote, "Take it from a Thai cuisine enthusiast, this place is the bomb! Ain't no place closer to Thailand than this! Like khao soi from Chiang Mai, like boat noodles from the rivers, let's not even start with the yen ta fo!"

Interested? Stop by to welcome the new business to the neighborhood. Dakzen is open from 11 a.m.–9 p.m. on Monday-Thursday, 11 a.m.–10 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, and noon–9 p.m. on Sunday.
